Optimise Team Culture

The UK Health & Safety Executive identifies the two biggest causes of workplace stress as workload and relationships within a team.

Studies show higher performing teams have higher levels of trust, built on simple processes and easily understood core values. (Team culture often isn’t the same as organisational culture.)

Why This Session?

This session was inspired by the simple understanding that teams are not run by rows of machines, but by a collection of people. All of the people within a team have preferred ways of working to help them contribute the most of their intellect, experience and expertise. The challenge is very few teams have had a conversation to understand what this looks like for each individual and then collectively agree some ways of working that help get the best from everyone.

This can result in individuals working hard but the team not working effectively. Taking the form of challenges managing workload, finding it difficult to solve important problems and people struggling with stress and work/ life balance.

The Optimise Team Culture session is a like having a person on-site to help you declutter your house. Clear away the things you don’t need, tidy the things that matter most and agree some simple routines to keep it looking (and performing) nice. To progress from a group of skilled individuals to a high performing team.

 

What's Covered?

  • Recap and agree on the core function of the team and how this links in with a sense of meaning for each person.

  • Plan how to manage focus and workload. Create some simple rules for core communication tools and how to protect time to do our most important work.

  • Assess the main stress triggers and evaluate how to improve relevant processes/ reduce the level of stress caused.

  • Practice two simple communication techniques to strengthen relationships and prevent misunderstandings.

  • Agree how to give recognition for effort and achievements.

  • Learn some simple techniques, to self manage stress and difficult thoughts.

 

How Is It Delivered?

Step 1:  Dedicated team session to identify key areas, define next steps and create a tailored plan specific to your team’s needs and aims. - 3 hours

Step 2: Receive the Nudge Course designed by behavioural science to help each of the team stay on track following the session. Support the team to test techniques in a simple way to help create the foundation for useful habits - Mon - Thu post session

Step 3: Use the team data from the Nudge Course to understand how to help cement simple effective cultural habits for your team. - 1on1 call with Sam and team manager within one month of session
